One of the fun things about hosting is getting to experience the host child's taste in food.
and getting to prepare it.

Its all D has wanted to do since he's been back.
|D's birthday party at home. |
He was happy, but so overwhelmed with it all.
The injustice of a child never having anyone celebrate their birthday is a sad reality.
|We also took him out for Mexican on his BD.|
Happy Birthday D! We are so sorry we missed the ones before, but we will be there for the rest!

If you are coming here from Adeye's blog, then hi! We adopted our daughter from Ukraine 2 1/2 years ago. We went to Ukraine blind (no referral) knowing we wanted to adopt a special needs child.
We knew NOTHING about cerebral palsy. Nothing.
So when we accepted her file, it was with some fear of the unknown.
When we met her, she couldn't walk and could hardly sit up straight, but OH could she TALK!
We were told that she would never walk unassisted. One doctor told me that "She'll never be at the high end of the IQ scale."
We don't like to listen to experts. They tend to be wrong.
That same child is now able to walk around OUTSIDE unassisted and her tutor tells me she is "quite gifted."
What we've found is that CP is totally "doable." Its not something to be scared of.
We have weekly therapy appointments and orthopedic appointments every couple of months that have done wonders for "M" medically.
But what we've found is that most of all our daughter is just a child who is happy to now have a family.

Our dossier will be submitted this week! Please pray with us that they will find it all perfect and accept it!
We are having a great time with "D" for hosting! He is such a sweet boy. He is still having a really hard time reading google translate because he's reading at a first grade level at best, but it has been helpful at times.
I took him to a Ukrainian Deli about an hour away yesterday and he enjoyed picking out some familiar goodies. He made this face when I snapped the picture. He looked so much like "V" that I wanted to cry! I miss that kid!

We received news that Ukraine is not accepting new dossier submissions this week. So the July 4th submission date is not going to happen. It will be submitted next week. The good news is that its had time to be gone over with a fine tooth comb in translation, and all looks great!
We are so happy to have "D" back for summer.
Someone else snapped this photo at the airport at the exact moment I saw his face searching for us.
So I grabbed him.
He brought one tiny bag with a shirt & shorts in it.
All he wanted to do was go home.
I took him to get a haircut yesterday. Watch out ladies, he stole MY heart first :)
We witness a miracle every time a child enters into life; but those who make their journey home across time and miles, growing within the hearts of those who wait to love them, are carried on the wings of destiny; and placed among us by God's very own hands. --Kristi Larson
