Five More

Summer hosting ends in 5 days.

I am so in love with this boy... how does a mama send a son back to an orphanage?

It gets harder every time.

Our agency is hopeful that even with the delays in Ukraine, we will still get a September appointment date.  Of course its Ukraine and it could end up being October, but we are at peace with God's timing.  It doesn't mean that it isn't ripping our hearts out to send him back, but we trust that God can see all that we cannot.

D has been telling me how V "balshoy platch"(big cry) after Christmas hosting ended.  Talk about breaking a mama's heart.  He asked me if papa and I cried when they left.  Yep, buddy we did.  Its why 3 days later we were signing adoption paperwork & setting up fundraisers.  Soon you'll be mine forever!

Can't wait for you all to be together! I'm sure you'll connect with the younger ones even faster ;) Thank you so much for sharing all of it with us.

And BTW: did D pick up some English this summer?

I imagine sending him back will be so hard,my prayers are with u. Do u know anything about the younger two?just curious. We adopted our middle son (he was2) from odessa, ukraine in 2005. Then we discovered he had brothers, we went back to odessa & adopted then in 2008. They were 10 & 14. Now they r 19, 15 & 9. They r really smart boys. Cara

I thought it was illegal to pre-select a Ukrainian kid to adopt - even a host kid! The American Consul General in Ukraine sent a letter to host families and everything:

Did yours get lost in the mail? Or do just really, truly believe the law doesn't apply to you?

Quite aware of how it works, Janina. Yes we have received a letter each time we host. No one holds children for anyone in Ukraine which is why you'll notice I don't use their real names or put identifying information on my blog. Its not however, illegal to request a child's file at an SDA appointment.

We witness a miracle every time a child enters into life; but those who make their journey home across time and miles, growing within the hearts of those who wait to love them, are carried on the wings of destiny; and placed among us by God's very own hands. --Kristi Larson
