How M's IEP meeting went

I guess I'm not the only one that has referred to "them" as Special Education Nazis.

The best yet of your own personal comic relief. What a hoot! . . . but still ALL too real for your family. Yeesh.

That was awesome....Yes, the Sped teachers never see a problem because THEY ARE NOT IN THE CLASSROOM WITH THE STUDENTS!! At least at my school they are not. They see the students in the SSS classroom (student support services) for 30 minutes for reading and 30 mintues for math! And then they claim to be experts on the students, yet the para pros (teacher's assistants) that are with the students all day long ARE NEVER ASKED TO ATTEND IEP MEETINGS OR ASKED FOR INPUT!!

This is so frustrating to me and my fellow para pros. We know your kids. We love your kids. We want only the best for your kids. Yet parents rarely if ever meet and talk with us. At my school, that is grounds for termination! They claim it is breaking confidentiality.

Keep fighting for every single service you know exists. NEVER agree to cut services, it is so hard to get them back once they are cut!

Have a great weekend,
Suzanne

We witness a miracle every time a child enters into life; but those who make their journey home across time and miles, growing within the hearts of those who wait to love them, are carried on the wings of destiny; and placed among us by God's very own hands. --Kristi Larson
